Using a larger votive holder, place a small amount of water in it, and place an open rose into the votive holder. Remove some of the inner petals of the rose, and place a tealight (still in it’s aluminum or plastic cup) inside of the rose and light.

For safety, ensure the tealights are embedded in a rose which is completely in glass. Ensure the roses are moist and well watered before using for the tealight.

Their Sunday wedding day started with an afternoon photo session, after a ‘getting to see each other for the first time’ moment at the Union Bank Inn. Their photographer Kelsy Nielson whisked them through fields and urban Edmonton amongst the falling snowflakes.

The ceremony at the Union Bank Inn was set a glow by candles floating in tall vases of white orchid strands. The mantel of the fireplace was full of hydrangea florals and pillar candles.

This candlelight wedding ceremony was officiated by marriage commissioner Marcia Loder. As the ceremony concluded, guests proceeded to the Devonshire Room for a brief cocktail reception as the main reception room was converted.

The room became alive with deep chocolate brown linens, a shimmering ivory striped overlay provided by Elegant Touches and orchid lampshades created by Nuance Occasions and Flowers In The Park, that gave a feeling of comfort to this formal setting. The cake by Simply Elegant featured a chocolate face plate with the couples’ monogram.

Guests received a favor of herbal tea in the brides’ favorite selections with a tea strainer. Pink Polka Design created custom favor stickers for wrapping around the tea jars, as well as the rest of the stationery (seating chart, table numbers, menu cards).

The guests enjoyed the lounge jazz sounds of the Circle Quartet that turned dance band apres dinner. Our jazz singer was able to move throughout the room and get guests involved as back up singers for her too! It was such a fun end to a beautiful day!

Angela & Michael - I know you weren’t counting on the snow, but your pro photos are gorgeous! Your intimate ceremony allowed you to be surrounded by those who meant the most to you. It was a privilege to be a part of it all.
