This May wedding day started with a ceremony at the family Korean Presbyterian Church in southern Edmonton – and although the day was a little drizzly, the warmth of family and friends filled the church.

The aisle was decorated with calla lily and chrysanthemum florals from Flowers in the Park and a custom printed aisle runner.

And even though it was raining, Tiffanie and Daniel with their photographer Sam Ng braved the weather for some incredible portraits – I love umbrella shots!

As the festivities moved towards the reception at the Marriott at River Cree, 400+ guests were greeted with the ceremony aisle runner for signing. This runner was turned into a fabulous keepsake for the couple.

The seating chart was created using a printable template from DIY Party Designs – once the names were in the chart, the file was uploaded to Staples for printing and placed in a frame for the wedding.

The dramatic teal lighting was emphasized on the backdrop by QSD Rentals. The teal and black linens from Elegant Touches were augmented with the rhinestone buckle accents. Wanting a more tailored and chic design, centerpieces were created with custom imported black feather balls.

When making decisions about the wedding cake, the couple was torn on two designs – and decided ultimately to find a way to incorporate the two together for a dramatic statement piece.

Tiffanie and Daniel wanted a real ‘wow’ element to their reception and we decided the best way to do that was bring in an aerial artist – performing to a Cirque du Soleil number from the show Ka.

The day may be been drizzly but it was sizzling inside! With a hooked up party thanks to DJ Qwake, this party went into the wee hours. To continue the festivities, a Korean Tea Ceremony was held with immediate family the next day. Dan & Tiffanie – I hope your wedding day resonates in your mind as an incredible party for years to come!

I love attending these types of soirees, as it’s a chance for the venue to show off what they do well…and for this year’s customer appreciation event, the Marriott at River Cree chose food stations to showcase their fabulous culinary abilities!

Food stations can be perfect in a cocktail style atmosphere or even a be used to offer full meals. If I had let myself make my way to each station, it would have surely sufficed as a full meal.

Filling the center of the room, was an assortment of savory and sweet stations, pleasantly arranged and not buffet like at all – all easily accessible from 2 sides, so there was never an awkward line up to participate in.

My favorite stations for the night was the asian noodle station and the crepe suzette station – needless to say, my personal trainer Darcy’s words hung heavy in my mind as I still snuck a creme brulee from the dessert bar.

Other food stations included the sushi bar, baron of beef au jus station, pasta station, shrimp cocktail on ice station, martini bar, pastry station with chocolate bar, and antipasto bar.

To celebrate the CFR – there was a great band, calf roping skills test and opportunities to meet Miss Rodeo Canada and Miss Rodeo Princess…thank you Marriott at River Cree for hosting such a fun appreciation event!

Even the Nuance Occasions lighting architect was part of the design process for the main stage backdrop…love all of Vince’s lighting works!! He does such a great job of creating ambient light in any room.

Food stations are a creative and fun way for guests to pick their food options instead of a buffet. And the Marriott at River Cree definitely knows how to do them right…be sure to check with Erin or Kate on their sales team if you want to consider a food station style reception for your wedding!
