For one of our weddings last summer, we loved being able to bring a bit of handmade style into their wedding through use of a handpainted aisle runner and ring pillow.

{ ring pillow | photo credit : IAWAR Photography }

These hand painted elements are a great way to capture the essence of your monogram or a piece of art you want to associate with your wedding. We have a great supplier who creates these incredible pieces for our couples.

{ handpainted aisle runner }

This particular design was on the couples invitations made in Vietnam and was duplicated onto the ring bearer pillow and aisle runner. Both make a fantastic keepsake!

We can have nearly any element handpainted onto such accessories – a monogram, a portrait, a symbol – whatever element you feel represents the two of you and your wedding celebration.

I bet you were thinking you could just ignore your dancefloor, right?

Well, I suggest you make use of that empty space during dinner and add lighting for a dancefloor wash or even a lighted monogram on the dancefloor.

We use a wash to add some color to a dancefloor or to add a bit of a design element to it.

Your monogram or names can also be superimposed on your dancefloor.

Generally, we’ll turn off the dance floor wash by the time we start your first dance, but you may choose to keep your monogram on the dancefloor for your first dance. Just be sure you know where the light beam comes from, so you can stay behind it and not block your lighted monogram during your dance.

Our team loves adding these elements into our weddings – never ignore your dancefloor again – instead, turn it into a focal point during your dinner and first dance.

Are you adding a dancefloor wash or dancefloor monogram to your reception dancefloor? Share the details with me in the comments section.

This autumn wedding turned into a beautiful winter wedding – complete with big fluffy snowflakes falling throughout the day. It was an intimate wedding for 35 guests.

Their Sunday wedding day started with an afternoon photo session, after a ‘getting to see each other for the first time’ moment at the Union Bank Inn. Their photographer Kelsy Nielson whisked them through fields and urban Edmonton amongst the falling snowflakes.

The ceremony at the Union Bank Inn was set a glow by candles floating in tall vases of white orchid strands. The mantel of the fireplace was full of hydrangea florals and pillar candles.

This candlelight wedding ceremony was officiated by marriage commissioner Marcia Loder. As the ceremony concluded, guests proceeded to the Devonshire Room for a brief cocktail reception as the main reception room was converted.

The room became alive with deep chocolate brown linens, a shimmering ivory striped overlay provided by Elegant Touches and orchid lampshades created by Nuance Occasions and Flowers In The Park, that gave a feeling of comfort to this formal setting. The cake by Simply Elegant featured a chocolate face plate with the couples’ monogram.

Guests received a favor of herbal tea in the brides’ favorite selections with a tea strainer. Pink Polka Design created custom favor stickers for wrapping around the tea jars, as well as the rest of the stationery (seating chart, table numbers, menu cards).

The guests enjoyed the lounge jazz sounds of the Circle Quartet that turned dance band apres dinner. Our jazz singer was able to move throughout the room and get guests involved as back up singers for her too! It was such a fun end to a beautiful day!

Angela & Michael - I know you weren’t counting on the snow, but your pro photos are gorgeous! Your intimate ceremony allowed you to be surrounded by those who meant the most to you. It was a privilege to be a part of it all.

Needing help developing the perfect decor scheme for her wedding is what brought Tina to Nuance Occasions earlier in the year. She quickly realized that her vision of an elegant wedding day, would also need some professional coordination services for her wedding day as well. The scene was set when both ceremony & reception were booked to take place at the beautiful The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, Edmonton.

Tina & Ron’s ceremony, officiated by Bill Pisarchuk – reflected their blended family, starting with the walk down the custom printed rose aisle runner, and incorporated a sand ceremony for each of their children and step-children. Following the ceremony in the Jasper Room, guests were treated to an assortment of hors d’oeuvres, sparkling wine and lemondade in flutes for this hot summer’s day.

Following the photo session in the lush gardens of the hotel with Lane of Stambaugh Photographics, guests were led to the intimate Drawing Room for the evening reception noted by the couples’ intials hanging on the door. Large floral creations by Flowers by LaTerra’s were the focal point of the room decorated in gold and burgundy tones. Inspired by the invitations, the table numbers and menu cards had a rose petal shape to them – while the martini luge (RonTini) in the room entrance featured their monogram.

As the cake designed by Deliciously Different Cakes was cut, the party was kicked up a notch as a live 7pc band began to play for the evening! And what you didn’t easily see throughout the day – was that our groom Ron was sporting a walking cast, as he had broken his ankle only a few weeks prior to the wedding which required surgery and some metal pins.

Tina & Ron – Emilie and myself know the hurdles you conquered to ensure your wedding day was a truly spendid affair for you and your guests. We continue to hope for Ron’s speedy recovery, and hope you can let the truly magical moments of your wedding day lift your spirits when you look back on your wedding day!
