Although I am a little surprised to see a company enter the world of jewelry while the economy is still murky, Disney just may have made what on paper seems like a very smart move. After all, millions of people get married year after year. But will fans of “The Little Mermaid” be willing to spend money on their bridal jewelry during such a tough economic time? With the popularity of the less expensive metals for wedding bands growing, I am not so sure if that generation will be spending much on wedding jewelry in general. Well, maybe the women will, so perhaps Disney has made a good move. Their new jewelry does look very nice.

Then again, I wonder if this decision is because the wedding industry is generally thought of as being recession-proof. Guess time will tell. It may turn out just to be a just be a Goofy situation! I am also interested to see if this brand extension will even work. What does Disney have to do with getting married? Probably nothing.
