An intimate morning ceremony & luncheon reception set the tone for a chic and casual wedding day for Courtenay & Trevor.
Something you need to know about Courtenay before I share the pictures – is that she has a love of all things polka dot! I often try to prevent couples from choosing trendy elements that they fall in love with in magazines, but because the polka dots really did encompass all parts of their home (quite literally!) – it was a perfect component to incorporate into their vintage chic wedding!

The day starting with a morning wedding ceremony on the 3rd floor lobby of the Winspear Theatre – accented with a plush aisle runner, rose balls and tissue pomanders suspended in mid air they had a truly intimate ceremony performed by their church ministers.

Guests then moved into the Founders Room of the Winspear Theatre for a light luncheon reception. The room was full of assorted hors d’oeuvres and a specialty chop box station. Absolutely Edibles worked with us to offer guests a Chop Box Food station where guests could assemble their own stirfry and toppings into a take out box. Guests had an amazing selection of 5 sauces, and over 12 different toppings!

The yellow wedding cake designed by Simply Elegant became a feature of the room – and the small cake beside it – well, that was a surprise for our groom. Back at the time of the cake testing, Trevor wanted a mint chocolate cake as part of their tiers. Courtenay said that no one else would eat it LOL. Little later into the planning, plans were made to surprise Trevor with his very own mint chocolate cake…but even he shared on his wedding day!

Courtenay & Trevor are quite the chefs – loving to spend their spare time cooking. When invitations were sent out, they asked guests to reply with their favorite family recipe, which was then assembled into a recipe book with their engagement photos – ready for guests to autograph their recipe.

The exquisite florals were created by Chantal of La Piazza Dasee – the full bouquets, cute boutonierres and clustered floral arrangements in vintage mercury glass vases were a great accent to the crisp white linens and silver chivari chairs.
As their favor to guests, they created mini recipe books of their own favorite recipes – including Trevor’s specialty homemade sponge toffee which was part of their candy buffet. Courtenay lovingly created decorative paper cones for guests to place their candy choices in. Their wedding invitations, candy buffet signs and reception signs were created by Jenelle of Pink Polka Design.

Following the afternoon reception, the couple and wedding party began their fun photo session with Kelsy Neilson Photographer throughout downtown Edmonton. Check out Kelsy’s blog for great photos of the day! Kelsy was such a trooper that day, as she had been badly stung by a wasp on her eye the night before. Thanks Kelsy for working through the pain!!
Courtenay & Trevor – you have a deep connection and love – and I look forward to seeing your love grow stronger through the coming years!! It was such a pleasure to help you create such an intimate & personal wedding day for you both!
