Behind the Scenes :: Lighting Feature

Back in June I had the pleasure of designing a feature for BLUSH magazine. We wanted to feature how different colored lighting could alter one room…and I wanted to take you behind the scenes to share the transformation that happens for a magazine shoot.

It starts with the perfect location…a backroom storage area at Elegant Touches…yes, it’s a beautiful space isn’t it?

But then we add some draping…and it starts to look a little better…

So let’s cue some basic white lighting…

Then we start to play with colors – this is where the fun starts…

I was so delighted to get home from appointments to find one of my couples’ feature up on Style Me Pretty today!

J&T had a fun art deco wedding in September – with an intense amount of details. It was so much fun helping create this vision along side a very graphically talented bride (and fab invitation designer of Pink Polka Design)!

If you don’t like the chairs in your venue, and don’t want a chivari chair, then consider investing in leather benches and stools as an alternate seating for your reception tables.

This style works best for short dinners – not eight course plated meals – as your guests may find it is a little hard on their back for too long.

Luxury Style :: Lucite Decor

Lucite (or clear plexi glass) is becoming a fun and unique accent to use in wedding decor design.

This piece by Asiel Designs in San Francisco features a metal & succulent design, and the lucite table with an additional layer allows a perfect place for the succulent collection to be showcased. A great alternative to using textured table linens.

Lucite allows you to focus the eyes of your guests to the feature item – a cake, a centerpiece or other colors in the room. Lucite can really become a no-accent, an invisible detail that allows the shift in focus to occur.

Luxury Style :: Museum of Petals

For the second dinner evening at the Wedding 360 conference in San Francisco last week, was the ‘Museum of Petals’ designed by Gloria Wong at the St. Regis Hotel.

The lobby featured hand painted banners, and a beautiful ice bar with embedded branches and rose petals.

As the doors opened to the reception area, we were greeted by a life-size tree with falling petals as the focal point to the room.

There was a tremendous team that put this event together, including:
Nicole Ha Designs, Enhanced Lighting, Blueprint Studios, Baranova Design, Chisel It Ice, Peculiar Pair Press

It’s inspiration like this that allows me to love travelling to conferences around the US. The ideas, the resources and the tools I learn and develop allow me to give more of myself to my couples & their wedding design.
