We decided that we’d try this cute cherry in sweetened jelly. It was so delicious!

My next trip to San Francisco, I’ll have to try more of the various sweets. Or will have to find a shop like this here in Edmonton…any ideas?

This year holds a special meaning to me, because I was born in the year of the Tiger (a gentle tiger under the wood sign)…and although I’m not of Asian decent, I can’t help but be drawn to how true the Chinese horoscopes are of my sign.

According to Chinese traditions, couples are to marry on ‘lucky days’ according to their Chinese Horoscope Animal dates…if you are curious about 2010 lucky wedding dates, we found a list online.

Asian weddings are generally full of tradition and family traditions – and it’s such an honor when our team has an opportunity to work with these families. Wishing you all prosperity for this new year!

Their July nuptials were exchanged at the beautiful Union Bank Inn, by marriage commissioner Sheila Smyth in front of the romantic fireplace, decked out with a gorgeous red rose floral arrangement by Graham & Lane florals.

The reception festivities then moved to the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Edmonton. The headtable was backlit with red spotlights, and the satin linens and chair covers.  Table numbers featured a picture of one of them at the age of the table number (Table 12 featured Esther in gymnastics at age 12) and gorgeous rose floral centerpieces.

For a bit of fun, the couple created cootie catchers, that served as their menu cards for their meal. And favor mints were placed into black pyramid boxes the couple had created. The wedding cake, created by Simply Elegant, was adorned by the photos of both their parents’ wedding day photos – a great decor element which anyone can add to their cake table.

For the grand entrance, they did a traditional Zeffa … an Egyptian wedding tradition where the couple is escorted by a belly dancer through the village , wearing a candelabra on her head…we didn’t go through the village, but the talented Shahenda did escort them through the room and they had front row seats to her middle eastern performance – even the groom Adam got caught in the action! This was a truly fun and energetic way to start the celebrations of the night.

Late lunch featured an assortment of Korean and Egyptian pastries – a sweet ending, for a sweet couple. I can’t wait to see the images captured by their photographer Sam of IAWAR Photographics…their engagment session was breathtaking!

Esther and Adam – Laurie and I both enjoyed working with you to create your dream wedding day – and hope your families enjoyed all the personal touches you included throughout the wedding day!  Your love for one another energized everyone who was there! Best wishes!

Our day got started with an engagement ceremony and procession to the Gazebo at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, Edmonton

Followed by a traditional tea ceremony in the beautiful gazebo of the Hotel MacDonald grounds.

Linda changed into dress #2 for the wedding ceremony preformed by marriage commissioner, Bill Pisarchuk, accompanied by the piano music of Piano Moments.

And then we moved onto a beautiful reception in the Hotel MacDonald Wedgewood Room. Flowers and centerpieces were designed by Flowers in the Park.

And this decadent four tiered cake was designed by Simply Elegant, incorporating elements of the Wedgewood Room mouldings into the design.

And before the entree was served, it is time to change into dress #3 – another traditional Vietnamese dress

I always love the desserts at Hotel MacDonald – this is the creative presentation of Tiramisu

Linda and Alfred, along with their parents offer a traditional toast to each table of guests

And finally, Linda changed into dress #4 as we prepared to cut the cake and enjoy the rest of the evening!

Linda and Alfred had so much fun with their photographer – Sam Ng Photographics – we’re still waiting on his photos, but know they’ll be spectacular. Their evening music was provided by Revolution Entertainment.  And our hair & make up team from Kaobella even came out to redo her hair for a second look before the wedding ceremony! We had such a great team of vendors!
